Change URL in General Settings
-
I have an issue that seems fairly common but I have not found a fix that works. Recently I went into General Settings and changed our WordPress address (URL) and Site Address (URL) since we changed our website name. After changing those URL’s it now says Page Not Found when I try to access the backend. Help please!

Hi –
Please share both the old and new URLs with us here. Then we can take a closer look at what’s going on.
-
The old URL: http://www.workshoparchitects.com
The new URL: urt27vbx.attwebspace.com/wp-admin (It’s a utility site).Thanks!

When I dial up the following URL:
urt27vbx.attwebspace.com/wp-admin
It will pause for a second and then redirect me to the 404 page.
I’ve put the following code into the wp-config.php file after the salts…
——————-
/**#@+
* Authentication Unique Keys and Salts.
*
* Change these to different unique phrases!
* You can generate these using the {@link https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/ WordPress.org secret-key service}
* You can change these at any point in time to invalidate all existing cookies. This will force all users to have to log in again.
*
* @since 2.6.0
*/
define(‘LOGGED_IN_SALT’, ‘=8b}r8+-=(}fd!bVZ8l(z;f|!y+k<P+XKTK+ wvv3a}73fA3_~;)’);
define(‘NONCE_SALT’, ‘vZ|Y(+?L{Cxfd_dH?{vRsvE%6F:(<T}k[]nqxN)l@R(~L{k}-KHF;|–|v’);ADD THIS>>>>
define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://urt27vbx.attwebspace.com/’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://urt27vbx.attwebspace.com/’);<<<< ADD THIS

That is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
With that said, you can fix that in the database following this guide: https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/#changing-the-url-directly-in-the-database
You’ll find phpMyAdmin in your hosting account’s control panel.

Thank you macmanx. The solution that worked for me was this link:
I found hard coding the URL into the wp-config.php was not working. Only by installing MyPHP and following the directions on the link was I able to fix this. Thanks again, macmanx.
