Change url name of an already purchased domain

Hey! I have a wordpress.com website that I purchased the domain for on wordpress. However, I need to change the url name of that domain. How can I do that?

the current site address is: elduendeshortfilm.wordpress.comThe url I need to change it to: elduendeshortfilm.com

Hi @marialxmad, since the old domain has been registered for a while, it’s outside the timeframe where we could swap it for you.
But you would be welcome to register another domain, then remove this old one before it expires next year.
You would add it here:
https://wordpress.com/domainsYou would make that domain primary, then disable auto-renew on the old domain. And then you’d get in touch with us in mid October to have the old domain removed.
The overlap you’ll have in the meantime will help make sure you don’t lose any existing search engine rankings, and give folks time to update any links to your site.
