Change URL of an already existing wordpress site

  Hi,

  We have a site named http://www.slc.qc.ca/wordpress and we want to change this to http://www.slc.qc.ca/socialscience

  Help!!!

  Sorry, you are in the wrong forum and need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that blog is self-hosted and self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported there.

  This is the forum for people hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently and our answers typically will not work for you.

  One thing you should think about is that if this site has been up and running for a while, by changing the subdirectory name you are going to lose all of your search engine ranking and start again from scratch. All of the links to your blog on the search engines will produce 404 file not found errors.
