Change User Name vs. Display Name? Confused!

I want to change both my User Name and my Display Name. (I think).
I want all traces of my old name “piperlori” erased–this includes the name that is displayed. Instead I want it replaced with “Tilly Glutz.” So, I went to the section titled: “Change User Name.” Will I need to do go the Display Name section under My Profile to do this or will Changing My User Name automatically also change my Display Name?
Once I do this, will it then effect the Search Engine rankings, etc? I’m trying to create a brand around the pen name of Tilly Glutz which is why I am asking this.
So, under my new blog (that I just created today) titled: Pundit Pie, it will say Posted by: Tilly Glutz. That will help search engine rankings, correct?Thanks for help with this!
