Change username

  I’m trying to change my username and WordPress will not allow that.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  hi,
  Are you getting any errors, when you change the username. Please do try changing the name using a different browser to see if the issue is due to a browser cache.

  Also please try following the instructions mentioned from here if you haven’t already followed.
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/.
  Please read the instructions carefully, since these changes are permanent and cannot be reverted.

  Thank you.
  I did follow the steps on the provided link but the issue still persists.
  I attempted to change my username and WP prompts me to click on “save username”. After doing so, a red ribbon pops up on top with an exclamation point and “save username” button is no longer available to for clicking. WP does not provide any errors.
  Any idea what the problem might be?

  Please do try a different name and see if the button appears for clicking save. Also have you tried to change the username using a different browser(Chrome or firefox) from your current one?

  I’m using Chrome. What I don’t understand is what’s the error? I know there is one because of the red-ribbon that pops up but it doesn’t specify what the error is.

  The red ribbon that pops up is an indication that WordPress.com isn’t able to accept the username you typed either because it already exists or it doesn’t match the criteria for a valid username. Do note that username should be more than 4 characters long, username can only contain alphabets and numbers only.

  You need to change the username till you get a green ribbon. The green ribbon is an indication that the new username you chose is acceptable. Till that green ribbon pops up, the save username button will not be available to click.
