Change username

    I make a typo in my user name and I want to change it back. Unfortunately, it says that the name has been taken but I have checked and found that the site with this name was actually deleted. I believe that it was taken because I once used that name but u have now changed it. And it seems that the system didn’t remember that the name is not in use now. What can I do?

    Hi,
    When a username is created it is added to the WordPress.com database and it is never removed even if the user has deleted the site or deactivated his/her account.

    This is done for security reasons-to keep the inactive/deleted user from being impersonated by someone else.

    So i am sorry, you cannot use a username which has already been used on WordPress(even if the user’s site is deleted).
