Change @username

  I have two wordpress.com accounts. One for my personal and one for my business. The personal account used to have the username @mybusinessname for a while. But I recently changed it. I now want to make my business accounts username @mybusinessname, but says this username is taken. But I don’t have that username any more.

  I am not sure the forum can help, I think this needs to be fixed by wordpress.com people. Hope it can fixed. Thanks.

  Please, no need to tell me ‘how’ to change my username. I know how and did that. That is not the issue. The issue is the username I am trying to change my business account to says ‘it us not available’. But I know this isn’t right, since I was the one using it and I changed it.

  Hello there,

  When you change your username, the old one is permanently purged and will never be available again for anyone.
  https://wordpress.com/support/change-your-username

  Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for you or anyone to use. If you just want to show your name differently please only change your Display Name.
