Change Viewer to Contributor, Private Blog, Minimum Theme

  Hi

  I have a private blog and have a few very pressing problems. One – my new users are all coming in as viewers and I want them to be contributors. How do I change a viewer into a contributor.

  Also I am trying to use the trying to use the two widgets Follow Blog and RSS Links — Neither one is working.. is this because it’s a private blog. How will users/viewers/contributors know when something new is posted…
