Change web address
-
Hi, I had a blog a couple of years ago, which I deleted. Now I want to start a new one and, once logged in, I changed the web address to the new one I wanted. But now I am stuck with a profile with no page at all, and when I try to create a new page, it says that the web address has already been taken. Any help, please?

Be aware that site deletion at WordPress.COM is a permanent and irreversible act. That is why there are multiple warnings to that effect that one has to ignore in order to delete any wordpress.COM blog. https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
I am sorry but you cannot register a deleted blog URL. No one can use a deleted blog URL regardless of who registered it. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled here and you can confirm by reading:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/delete-blog/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/However, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

Thanks for your reply. However I don’t want to register a deleted blog URL. I simply want to create a new one, totally new. The new page has nothing to do with the old one apart from my email address. So what I did was to change the old URL with the new one I wanted in my account settings.
But now, when I try to add a primary page, it takes me to the first step of creating a page and when I type the new URL it says that it is taken. -
As for your second comment, that is my problem. I never deleted itsthegreatoutdoors. In fact I just created it, minutes ago, and my intention was to use it as my new page.

Hi rootjosh, thank you for your reply. However, the issue partly continues. I say partly because if I try to access itsthegreatoutdoors.wordpress.com it leads to my old deleted page. But when I click on “My Site” or on the pencil to start editing my page, it leads me to the “Create Site” page, not to the page where I could edit it.

Can you show me a screenshot of what you see when you visit https://itsthegreatoutdoors.wordpress.com/
Here are some screenshot instructions if you are not familiar with the process:
I find http://snag.gy/ to be very useful for sharing screenshots. You can also upload the screenshot to your site’s media library. I will be able to see it there.
-
I can’t access a media library because there is no access to my webpage.
I uploaded the screenshot here: http://snag.gy/NwhEt.jpg
(this is the old website, but I can’t edit or do anything to it) -
That is https://itsthegreatoutdoors.wordpress.com/.
All you did was take your old site and change the URL. That doesn’t change any of the content. So everything is going to look the same until you change/update it.

Okay, after a little digging, I should have that all sorted out.
Please give it another try and let me know.
