Change width in fixed width theme (Red Light)
-
Hi first of all, my website is on wordpress.org, but I guess that makes no difference to the problem.
Any small help will be highly appreciated. Here is the problem.-I am using the theme “Red Light 3.00 by TemplateLite.com”. Its a 3 column fixed width theme. I would like to extend the width of all 3 columns proportionally. That’s because I want my sidebars to be at least 230px, and if I am extending the sidebar width, then I will have to extend the main body area too.
Is there any way out?? I tried a lot, made lots of changes in style.css, but to no avail. I tried changing width in #container, #content etc. But no change. I am able to change the width of sidebars but not of the main text area.Plzz help…

The fine folks at the WordPress.org forums will best be able to help you. You can find them here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome

This forum is for help with WordPress.com, and we do keep the forum separate. One is free software supported by a volunteer community (WordPress.org) and the other is a place to get a free blog but have the option to purchase paid upgrades for some things like Custom Design (WordPress.com). One of the benefits of WordPress.com upgrades is that they come with dedicated support. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ to learn more about the differences.
To get help with your setup, you should ask in the volunteer forums at http://wordpress.org/support/ or possibly hire a web designer to help you. CSS forums are also a good resource that you can check into.
