change XYZ.com to XYZ.org

    Hi

    I owuld like to change my site johannatheo.com to johannatheo.org since I understnd that only than I can use plugins.

    1. How to do that and keep what I habe already made (pages, blogs, menu etc)? Is that possible?

    2. I have a premium account. Can i get rid of the XYZ.com for the XYZ.org without havong to get a second URL? Since I will not use the XYZ.com URL anymore. A fee of $18 per annum for something I will not use is a lot.
    If I would have known I was not able to use plugins when using a XYZ.com account, I wouldnot have asked for one! In fact I have lost lots of time seeking for a way of usingplugins untill somebody told me this was not possible since they dont work on a XYZ.com site.

    Hi,
    The difference between .com and .org is different than what you’ve noted. It has to do with WordPress, not your domain name. On WordPress.com the technical parts of the site are handled for you, but some features are restricted (eg. plugins).

    With WordPress.org software, you get complete freedom to do as you wish with your site, however the technical parts are your responsibility. For more information about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, visit: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
