Changed background color, but lost my page tabs.

I just changed my background color to my desire after lots of exploring in the CSS, which was pink. However, I have lost my tab color which was green. My goal is to use my current theme, which is Digg 3, but change the blue text to brown and the gray background to pink. I would like to leave everything else the same because I love it. I just am color picky.

The Digg 3 theme had these great little green colored taps for my “pages” up top. When I changed my background, the wonderful tabs have vanished. I would like to change my background to ff99cc, which is a pale pink, and still keep this green tabs. Anyone care to help? I appreciate in advance any advice as I am new to CSS and very excited that I learned to change the colors.

  • It looks like you’ve copied most or all of Digg3’s original CSS into your custom stylesheet. You don’t need to do that: you’ve selected the “add to existing CSS” option, which means Digg3’s stylesheet is loaded first automatically. You only need to include your custom rules in your stylesheet.

The reason the tabs have disappeared is that the image URLs in some of the CSS you copied are relative. Now that you’ve copied them to a different stylesheet they’re pointing to the wrong place.

You’ll find CSS problems much easier to diagnose if you install the Firebug extension for Firefox.

Ok, thanks, I will try just adding to the stylesheet. I noticed that when it showed me my stylesheet, it didn’t have anything there but tips of how to use CSS, so I loaded the template so I could change it. I’ll go see if I can find a way to just add to the existing one.

I don’t have firefox, so I cannot get the firebug. I will play around and see if I can figure out which color needs to be changed.
