changed background color header but background color did not change

  changed background color but header color did not change, it remains white, also the tagline is missing from the header. i am able to customize the css. thanks.

  Hi there! You do indeed need to adjust your CSS in order to change the color that appears above your header image.

  1. Click Appearance → Customize. Then click the CSS button in your right-hand menu.
  2. In the CSS Revisions box, please paste the following below all existing text:
     

     .site-header {
     background: #6a9c6b;
     }

     .site-branding {
     border-right: 0px solid #cccccc;
     }

  3. Save your changes.

  That should do it!

  thank you this worked. there is a small white line before the menu , is there a way to get rid of this so it can be one color uninteruppted by this white line?

  Certainly! It begins with the same steps:

  1. Click Appearance → Customize. Then click the CSS button in your right-hand menu.
  2. In the CSS Revisions box, please paste the following below all existing text:
     

     .main-navigation {
     border-left: 0px solid;

  3. Save your changes.

  perfect. where is a list of all the ways to customize a theme…and maybe i can figure it out myself. thank you for the help. you have been a huge help.
