Changed blog domain name and now Google search links broken

I recently changed my blog from Springsaunasteam to Springsaunasteam, updating the domain name and name of the blog. I have two or three posts which rank quote highly on search engines and want to divert this traffic to the new url for soringsaunaswim. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. It will take a few weeks for Google (and other search engines) to re-index your site at the new address. Once that’s done your search ranking should return to what it was before the address change, but as I said, it can take up to six weeks for your site to be re-indexed.

You can look at the Site Redirect upgrade, provided you did not delete the old address while making the change. This will also redirect any other incoming permalinks to your old site from other websites. Without the upgrade, all those links will be broken now, as the content is no longer available at the old address.

Thanks. I have tried to do the redirect but there is a problem and it says the servers are down. This has been occurring for the past 24 hours. When will this be fixed?

  • I’m afraid I can’t answer that, but I’ll tag this for staff to follow up. Please be patient while waiting for their response.

    Hi there,

Sorry for the trouble adding that Site Redirect to your site. What is the exact error message you see (you can copy and paste it in your reply), and at what point in the process does it appear? I’ll investigate that for you!
