Changed blog from public to private, need to clear search cache
-
I started a blog intending it to be private. Mistakenly published a post before turning privacy on, and now that post is on Google (or was at least returned to someone in a Google news alert).
Since I turned on the private status, will the next crawl from Google and other search engines remove the cached content? I can’t see how to manually update my robots.txt file, nor can I see how to add meta tags for noindex and nofollow.
I also signed up for Google Webmaster Tools to try to remove it manually, but I can’t figure out how to verify the URL on my WordPress.com-hosted blog.
Any guidance appreciated.
