changed blog title by one letter

  • Unknown's avatar

I realised that on my address I forgot to add the letter R in daughters so I changed my blog address adding the R. Whenever I previously checked out my blog…it could still be found despite the spelling error. Now however…when I google it with the correct spelling and title ,it shows my old spelling with my site and says this blog is no longer available!

I was finally getting views but I just didnt want to have a mispelled word!
    now what do I do??
    thx!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    first one was
    http:/daughtesofborderlinemoms.wordpress.com

    new one
    http:/daughtersofborderlinemoms.wordpress.com

I was even thinking if I had to change it back I would.
    thx!

It says http://daughtesofborderlinemoms.wordpress.com/ was deleted. Did you delete it? Or did you just register a new blog? Because if you deleted it, you are out of luck.

  • Unknown's avatar

yes I deleted it because of the spelling. In the instructions it said that if you want to change the name of your blog so I did as I thought. Then it said to add the new name which I did.

If this is the case, I would change it back to the original with the incorrect spelling.

Why would I register a new blog and then have both? I dont understand that?

  • Unknown's avatar

what about if i change it again but to the old spelling. Would that work at opening it again?

  • Unknown's avatar

just to claify. My blog is still there. only I am the only one who sees it. Its not accessable anymore. So when people now check out daughtersofborderlinemoms…what shows up is a title of one of my blogs with the old address and when you press on it,it opens to its unavailable.

    I

Your new blog is there and anyone can see it. What you mean is that it can’t be found if you google for it. That’s because the old one had been indexed while the new one hasn’t been indexed yet (takes days or even weeks). You just need to keep posting, as well as commenting on other blogs. Don’t forget to correct your username link.

  • Unknown's avatar

okay I undestand about it taking time on google but why when I google it my old one appears? and then it says it no longer exists?
also why do I need to change my user name?

What would happen if I go back and swtch it to my old name? would that just make things accessible on google again today?
    thx.

    Still waiting to hear back.

I wanted to know why I would need to change my username link…and where would I change that?

also I just read someone else’s post who tried to change her blog name and then go back and change it to the original one ( which is what I want to do) and it said that you cannot use that title.

I just thought that the old address that now appears when you google my old title would DISAPEAR but it does not! So all my viewers will google my title and the old one appears …but then says the author has deleted the blog
    HELP!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi raincoaster,

You asked me that last night and I already gave you both.
    pls see top
    thx!

“why when I google it my old one appears?”
Because you’re searching for something that hasn’t being indexed yet, so google fetches the closest it can find.

“and then it says it no longer exists?”
    Because you have deleted it.

“also why do I need to change my user name?”
I didn’t say change your username, I said correct your username link. Your username still links to the deleted blog.

Thankyou for being so clear. When I was setting up my blog it took me all day to figure it out .Can you please explain to me where I go to correct my username link?
Is it where it describes it in the
    see point 2?

thx so much for your help!

  • Unknown's avatar

    You’re welcome.
Yes of course that’s what the link I gave explains.

I tried to do what I did when I first made this blog which was verify my google http name and as soon as I did that the first time I appeared on google.
I was trying to do that again, putting in my new address and it says illegal and wont let me. I dont know what they have registered if anything! So confusing!

I just want to ensure that I am in there.

    Hello,
I contacted google and asked about my issue and they suggested I ask you if we are able to do a 301?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have been trying to figure this out. I would like to REMOVE my old site with the incorrect spelling of my blog . Am I able to do that? Because that is all that shows up which says I removed the blog. I would like to remove it from the google search. This way…I can hopefully whether its days or weeks get my new one on with the correct spelling.

    please help.

@momo1965: it is up to Google when the site that you have deleted will be removed from their search results, we have no control over that. Your old blog is marked up as deleted on WordPress.com, so it’s a matter of your site being re-indexed by Google and other search engines (unfortunately we are not able to give you a timeline as we don’t know it).

@momo1965 – you have a bit of a catch – if your old site was not deleted you could I think do a redirect or you could prove to Google that you owned the site and ask for the 404 page not found be removed from the search results – my own experience with Google has been rough at best trying to get old pages removed – as soon as it looks a bit better Google digs up some old URL that Google has no idea where it was referenced from and dings me for yet another Page Not Found.

Deleting an old blog name is never a good idea.
