Changed Blog URL: Previous Followers No Longer Notified of New Posts

I changed my URL to hereforyoutemporarily.wordpress.com and now email notifications do not get sent to my followers even though it says it has. This has been an issue for at least 10 years. If I remember correctly, my posts won’t even show up on the Reader.

Hi there,
To further troubleshoot this issue, I’ll need the email addresses of some of your followers who cannot receive notifications on new posts. When you share those emails here, they’ll automatically be hidden and will only be visible to other staff members and me.
As for the Reader issue, this is happening because you’re not following your own blog. You’ll see the posts appear in your Reader feed if you start following it.

I have another account that follows this account which is how I know email and Reader notifications are not being sent. The other account is https://canadiancannabisstocks.wordpress.com/ and its email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff)
I brought this up here 10 years ago regarding another account and it was never resolved.

However, I did see that the other account you mentioned did not receive your post in its Reader.
After looking further into the issue, I see that there is a glitch preventing some of your followers from receiving notifications. I just did a feed refresh. Once you post again, let us know if your other account shows that new post.

Of course you can see my posts because you subscribed AFTER my new URL has existed. The issue is previous followers are not getting notified. I just posted a test post and nothing has changed.
The issue that we are having is that WordPress support is refusing to look into this issue as if it’s an issue with the site and instead questioning possibilities on the user side.
Assume for one minute that there’s a flaw on your end. You can easily test this and see the results.

I see you mentioned that you changed your site address recently, and this can sometimes lead to issues where long time followers (from before the name change) will not get updates.
I’ve asked our devs to take a look and see if this can be corrected. For now I am not able to offer a timeline of when you would hear more about this but we will update you as soon as we know more. Thanks for your patience!

I hope that someone does look into it as it appears it’s an issue all users would encounter if they changed their URL.

The issue that we are having is that WordPress support is refusing to look into this issue as if it’s an issue with the site and instead questioning possibilities on the user side.
I will note that individuals designated as “Staff” here on the forums are the same Happiness Engineers that staff our email and live chat support, so we are looking into this.
I hope that someone does look into it as it appears it’s an issue all users would encounter if they changed their URL.
This isn’t something impacting all users who have changed their site URL. Otherwise, we would have had more reports of this, so it’s only affecting you at the moment.
We need to get someone on our development team to look into this as this is not something Support can fix. We’ve already posted the issue internally and we need to wait for our team to get to the request and provide an update.

This same issue happened to me 10 years ago with another URL when I first reported it and was never resolved. I doubt I’m just unlucky to have it happen again.
It’s possible other people are having the same issue but they’re unaware they’ve lost their followers or they don’t bother reporting it.
