Changed blog/site address. Yet can't get access to it.
-
Greetings:
I changed my blog/site address.
Old: lastsubdivision.wordpress.com
New: pineandsaguaro.wordpress.comProblem: can’t access my blog through “pineandsaguaro.wordpress.com.”
If I type pineandsaguaro.wordpress.com into Google, zippo.
If I type “lastsubdivsion.wordpress.com” into Google, up comes my blog, but I can’t have access to the dashboard. Suggestions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can access your Dashboard through this link:

Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Thanks, Grace. I so appreciate your help.
I still gotta a fundamental problem.
Kindly go to my blog, Trouble at the Intersection of Pine and Saguaro, and look up in the corner at the web address. See it says, “last subdivision.com?”
I gotta get rid of that. As long that’s there, curious viewers will type in Trouble at the Intersection of Pine and Saguaro into their browser and get nada (actually they’ll get notes from a workshop I gave) but nothing about a wordpress blog.
Yet, if a person types in: last subdivision, they can get to my site and blog. How can we change this? How can we banish last subdivision to planet zorgon?
Many thanks!
Sam

Hi Sam,
I’m not quite sure what you are asking for here. Do you want to get rid of the domain?:
lastsubdivision.com
If you do, then please go to Store > My Domains in your Dashboard and switch your primary domain to:
pineandsaguaro.wordpress.com
As long that’s there, curious viewers will type in Trouble at the Intersection of Pine and Saguaro into their browser and get nada (actually they’ll get notes from a workshop I gave) but nothing about a wordpress blog.
I believe you are talking about Google Search or any other search engine for that matter?
Google needs some time to update their index. WordPress.com has no control on how your site appears in the Google index and in which position.
Please be patient, and in the meantime, our Webmaster Tools document has some more info that you can take a look at:

Grace, again, my many thanks.
A pair of stubborn woes:
If I type in pineandsaguaro.wordpress.com into Google or Bing, I’m still not getting anywhere. I noted that under Google, my old domain (Last Subsidized Subdivision.com) comes up fourth down on the page. This brings up a parenthetic question (one from the tech idiot that I am). Do I have to register or create a new domain name outside of WP, as in pineandsaguaro.com?
Second problem: I’ve tried, via WP Webmaster Tools tutorials, to upload an HTML verification, but my blog site won’t take HTML. I’ve tried “alternative” methods and they don’t seem to work either. Suggestions?
Again, my many thanks. Sam

HI there,
Do I have to register or create a new domain name outside of WP, as in pineandsaguaro.com?
If you want your site found at pineandsaguaro.com, you would have to register it. Your site is currently found at lastsubdivision.com because that is the domain you registered and mapped to your site: pineandsaguaro.wordpress.com.
You can register a new domain using the guide below:
I’ve tried, via WP Webmaster Tools tutorials, to upload an HTML verification, but my blog site won’t take HTML. I’ve tried “alternative” methods and they don’t seem to work either. Suggestions?
I’m not sure what you mean by your blog site won’t take HTML. Please follow the directions here and it will work:

Greetings Grace:
Once again, thanks for all your help. You’re very patient. We’re making progress.
I acquired a new domain last week, pineandsaguaro.com, and made my old domain, lastsubdivision.com, subservient to pineandsaguaro.com.
However, let’s type pineandsaguaro.com into Google. We’ll get, on the fourth entry on the Google page, lastsubdivision.com. I can indeed access my website through this portal but why doesn’t pineandsaguaro.com come up on this Google page? Why isn’t it showing as the dominant domain?
If we type in a longer title, Trouble at the Intersection of Pine and Saguaro into Google, again, LastsubsidizedSubdivision comes up right off the bat. Two entries down, Trouble at the Intersection of Pine and Saguaro comes up, but when you click on it, it tells the reader, nothing found.
Suggestions?
Secondly – and on a totally unrelated subject – I’m trying to change themes. The theme I’d like to use is Twenty Eleven. Yet when I push preview on Twenty Eleven, my blog comes through but the key image, a photo of an isolated subdivision in Utah, does not.
Again, any suggestions?
Many, many thanks for all your help.

Hi there,
Please note that pineandsaguaro.com has not been registered. It is available for purchase at this moment.
You can register is using the link I provided you above.
As for it showing up on Google – pineandsaguaro.com should not show up on Google because it hasn’t been registered or added to your account.
Currently you should only be able to see pineandsaguaro.wordpress.com and lastsubdivision.com. Also, when it comes to ranking, we have no control over where Google decides to rank your site. It would be up to them and how they determine where it is in the search results. But normally after some time (give it a couple weeks after you add the domain), you should be able to see your site in Google search results.
Secondly – and on a totally unrelated subject – I’m trying to change themes. The theme I’d like to use is Twenty Eleven. Yet when I push preview on Twenty Eleven, my blog comes through but the key image, a photo of an isolated subdivision in Utah, does not.
This will depend. Currently your site’s theme is set to Widely. Some themes will have logos, headers, etc. Whichever you set your theme’s to will not always be the same. Since you are now using Widely, I am able to see a large header image. Are you all set?
Cheers!
