  Hi, I am currently paying for a domain name for my site, but I would like to switch to a domain that I don’t have to pay for yearly. I am fine with transitioning from a .com to a .wordpress.com domain, but I am not sure how to do it! If I cancel my current plan for my domain, will my site disappear entirely?

  You can downgrade to a cheaper plan, but that requires staff assistance. Also note that if you downgrade outside the refund period of a plan, we might not be able to give a refund anymore for the difference in cost, so downgrading is best done when a plan is about to renew.

  Hi there,

  You’ll be able to cancel your domain by going to your purchases page:
  https://wordpress.com/me/purchases

  Once there click the domain then click on “Cancel Domain” to start the cancellation process.
  Note that the domain is currently registered until April 2019 and set to auto-renew in March 2019. If you cancel the domain now it will be removed from your site immediately and due to the time passed since the last renewal a refund can’t be issued.
