Changed domain name and site is acting very strange

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I changed my site’s domain name under settings-general like the instructions stated. Now my site is all white and filled with dead links. Original site URL is charlestdaube.com

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi charlestdaubebooksgmailcom,

It looks like there is no DNS “A” record for charlestdaube.com, meaning nobody knows where to find the website.

Doing a quick lookup, charlestdaube.com is registered with BlueHost, so I would suggest you check that the DNS configuration is correct there. If you’re still having issues, it would probably be best to contact their support team.

    Cheers,
    Eric

  • Hi there,

Eric is right that you need to contact Bluehost support, but the issue isn’t related to your DNS.

Changing the domain on a stand-alone WordPress site like yours has to follow a specific process. You can find the documentation for that process here.

    https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/

However, most hosting providers have their own process, managed via your hosting control panel, so contacting your hosting provider is the best option in this case, as they’ll best know how to fix this for your particular setup with them.
