Changed Domain (Redirect)

    Hello, when I changed the domain name for my site (from terrorturnip.wordpress.com to theturnipofterror.wordpress.com) I did not realize there would be no redirect or anything like that. Until search engines update enough, the old site still shows up and such. Is there any way to put a redirect up there instead of a ‘site deleted’ page? Or, can it be recovered and given to an alternate account I set up with a different email address so I can put a redirect? I suppose I should have done the research first, but I was unaware of the reprecussions.

    terrorturnip.wordpress.com is no longer available.
    The authors have deleted this site.

    I don’t believe anything can be done as you clicked past clear warnings.
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-site-address/ says:

    Once you change the “example” part of example.wordpress.com, the old address will stop working. Visitors will not be redirected to your new site address. The old address will not be available for use again.

  • Hi there,

    I can still restore the terrorturnip.wordpress.com address to your account, which would enable you to add the site redirect upgrade:

    Redirect a WordPress.com Site Address

    But we can only do that at the request of the account that used to own the site, and that’s a different account than the one you’re using to post here. Please log in as the username you had used for the other site and comment here to confirm, and we can restore the site for you.

    @themagicrobot
    , sites deleted through an address change can be restored within 30 days, same as sites deleted normally.
