changed layout option of my theme and now can't get rid of certain widgets
-
Changed layout option of my theme, and suddenly new widgets appeared on my static front page, and I cannot get them to go away. And they don’t exactly match with the widget descriptions in the Appearance settings, either.
For example, the first widget that won’t go away is “Recent Entries” and lists my recent posts. I do have the “Recent Posts” set to appear on my posts page only, but there is no widget called “Recent Entries,” and if it is really the same as “Recent Posts,” it should be obeying my visibility rules for “Recent Posts,” but it is not. I cannot get rid of it on my static front page.
Second unwanted widget is called “Links.” I have not ever used this widget on any page, nor do I want it on any page now. In an attempt to get it off of my static front page, I did add it to my sidebar, then tried to manage its visibility by “hiding” it on every type of page. No luck. It is still there.
I also find it interesting that, while messing around with this widget, getting it to appear and disappear from pages other than my static front page, it showed up on those other pages as “Blogroll,” not as “Links” with “Blogroll” underneath, as it is on the static front page now. So maybe it is also an entirely different animal, since it will not obey the visibility rules of the Links widget.
What is going on?!!?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Internet Explorer or Google Chrome?
Do you want the ‘Links’ widget to be removed or do you just want to keep it on one page?
