Changed my name, now no hits.
-
Hello everyone,
I recently changed the name of my blog about a week ago, and I’ve noticed that I’ve only had one hit since then (which was probably me from another computer – tragic).
I used to get about 30 a week, not much, I know, but I preferred that to just 1!
What can I do to get my hits back up? I wouldn’t really want to change the blog name back…
Anyway, I hope you can help,
Theogon -
Just an update: I’ve also posted a blogpost last night, and usually I get at least 30 hits from a new post… I’ve even used the same tags, categories etc.

What exactly did your change?
1. The Site Title ie. the Blog Name that can be changed at any time here > Settings > General
Doing this have no effect on SEO or traffic flow?2. Or did or the Blog Address ie. the URL starting with http:// and fail to purchase a site redirect upgrade?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/Changing the URL breaks every link in the blog and it will take 3 – 4 months for Google, Bing and other search engines to re-index the content under the new URLs. That’s why there are two warnings about purchasing a site redirect upgrade.
If you do change your blog address, permalinks to your old address, including search engine results, will be broken unless you purchase a Site Redirect upgrade.

Ah, thanks timethief – I changed the URL and that must be why traffic is so low. If it’s just a matter of waiting now, I guess that’s fine, at least I know.
Thanks for your help!

I’ve been shaking me head when witnessing bloggers post here who have done the same thing. There’s not way I would every change a blog URL unless I was purchasing a site redirect or a domain mapping upgrade. This explains why > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/08/05/avoid-creating-404-pages/
You’re welcome.
