Changed my site address and now homepage is unobtainable

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I changed my site address to a wordpress.com address after I had constructed it. Now, when I try to view my homepage by clicking on its title in the menu, I am taken to a page which says ‘my blog namehome.wordpress.com is no longer available’ the authors have deleted this site.
    What can I do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

my blog namehome.wordpress.com is no longer available’ the authors have deleted this site.

I have visited the site and it worked for me, it looks like you’ve fixed the issue.

is no longer available’ the authors have deleted this site.

If you have accidentally deleted your site, then Staff will help to help you recover that.
I am adding modlook tag to this post, so someone from Staff will check the activity status and write you back.

    Thanks!

  • Howdy –

I can se that this blog was renamed from staffordshireasylumrecordshome.wordpress.com to staffordshireasylumrecords.wordpress.com 2 days ago.

When viewing https://staffordshireasylumrecords.wordpress.com/ in my browser I click on the Site Title from the header area and the page reloads fine for me. I do not see the error that you’ve mentioned.

    Thanks,
If, however, you click between different pages, and then click on the home page ‘the project’ in the menu bar, you get the ‘site deleted’ message.
    This is the problem.
    Many thanks

  • Hi there,

Go to My Site ->Customize ->Menus and edit your menu.

Click on the The Project menu item, and update the URL there.

Because that is a custom link in the menu, it would not have updated automatically when you changed your site’s address.

    Hi Kokkieh,
Thank you so much! That worked.
I had images of having to start from scratch again!

    Thanks again
    Steve
