Changed my site's domain name and now site is not accessible?
-
I changed the domain name to my wordpress site lastnight and now when i attempt to visit the site i get a wordpress page that says ‘Example80958.wordpress.com is no longer available.’ ‘Example80958’ was the temporary domain name I used until i decided on a permanent one; now after changing names my site’s vanished? Yet i’m still able to log on as as administrator and make changes to content/layout/design, but the site’s gone.
PLEASE HELP!

Hi there!
Do you changed the Example80958 domain name? Please check your sites in your WordPress account to see how many sites do you have and what is its names.

Hello! I checked my account and i see that the ‘primary site’ had the old/Example domain name; i updated that to the new domain name… but when i try and type the address i still get the same page explaining to me that “the wordpress site is no longer available”
-
-
and now when i attempt to visit the site
Do you mean that this happens when you visit the old URL or the new one?
-
i mean when i type the new URL into the address bar i am taken to a site that says the wordpress site has been removed by its users- is this temporary? Or did i not correctly change the domain name of my site with WordPress

When i search my NEW domain name in the address bar, I am taken to a page that says “Example80958.wordpress.com is no longer available” – this (“Example80958”) is the OLD domain name. So, why does my NEW domain name take me to a site that references the OLD domain name? Where did the content go? Why is there now no accessible site since changing the Domain name? WordPress makes it seem very simple to update/change Domain names…. Please help me
-
is this merely temporary/standard for when a domain name is changed at word press? Or have i committed an error during the process of changing the Domain name linked to my WP site? Please help me….

yeah that did not work for me. ..
I am wondering why when I type in “dont bet with us” into my address bar, I am taken to a page that references the OLD domain name “Example80958.wordpress.com is no longer available”
It seems to me that clearly either i did not correctly change the domain name to the one I own
OR
it is normal to take time for a domain update/change to register and begin functioning -
If i enter ‘dontbetwithus.wordpress.com’ i am taken to the correct site, but why when i enter (simply) dontbetwithus.com i am taken to an abandoned site that reference my OLD domain name?? Is there a way to have these two addresses linked so they both lead to the new/updated site…?
-
That has nothing to do with things on our end, I’m afraid. That is a function of either your browser history remembering the old URL or whatever search engine your browser uses not having updated their results yet.

dontbetwithus.com is registered with GoDaddy and appears to be pointing to their nameservers:
https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=dontbetwithus.com
If you were the one who registered that domain name, you will need to log into your GoDaddy account in order to make any changes. If someone else has registered dontbetwithus.com, then there is nothing you can do to get it to point to your WordPress.com site.
