Changed my URL for one of my Blogs

    Hi,

    I realize that google search problems are not exactly a wordpress issue, my questions though

    1: How long does Google take to index / make it ‘findable’ again?

    2: Would I be better off changing it back and is that easy enough to do as I didn’t ‘delete’ the old one >> http://astronomyataglance.wordpress.com

    3: The problem is the ‘old’ url was being viewed at least 20 ~ 100, at times up to 500 approx per day (not as good as my main blog, but still ‘ok’) Since I changed the url, not even 1 view per day… This was about 24th of April.

    4: Having looked on Google search myself a little for myself, I also notice that other sites I am among now are ‘Astro’ as in ‘Astrology’ etc.. This is another reason why I think I may be better off changing it back. (To Astronomy in full) As Google’s search may lock on to the ‘site title’ more?

    Hi!

    To answer your question 1. above:

    “There is No set time in for Google to initially index your site – the time taken can vary.
    The time it does take may vary based upon factors such as;

    * Popularity of the site (Whether it has any links to it)

    * Whether the content is Crawl-able (Server Responses and Content type)

    * Site structure (how pages interlink)

    It is possible for a site to be crawled/indexed within 4 days to 4 weeks.
    In some cases, it may take longer.” via Google

    Whether you change it back or not is totally up to you and how much time you want to wait and/or put into having Google “find” you again. :)

    Thanks Mindy, sort of what I thought.. (links, structure and crawl able etc were not a problem before; and nothing has changed there)

    Shall just have to wait for more ideas on the the other points of my problem.
