Changed phone number for 2 step verification

    I changed my phone number some time ago before realizing that I need it for 2-step verification. I’m able to access WP through backup codes but need to change phone number for 2-step verification. How can I do this? Thanks

    Hi there,

    Disable 2-factor authentication by using the backup codes you printed when setting it up. You can then re-enable it with the new number.

    Hi there,

    I see you were able to update your 2FA settings. Just a note that the 2FA you updated is only for your WordPress.com username account.

    It doesn’t protect access to the WP-Admin dashboard for your WordPress site, which is built using the open source WordPress.org software, and hosted at Bluehost.com. If you want to protect your admin login for that site with 2FA as well, you’ll need a security plugin installed on the site to add that.
