Changed Style

  • Unknown's avatar

I have recently changed the layout of my site (Premium Twenty Ten Theme) so that the text goes right across the page. Everything was fine except for this page: Tourism/Historical Sites (https://grosmont.wales/historical-sites) where some of the images have gone at an angle. I have tried everything I can think of, including deleting them, to get them back as they were but have been unable to do so. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong?
The other possibility would be to revert to the original style for this page only, but I am not sure how to do that either and would prefer to keep the style consistent throughout the site.
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble!

Just to clarify, do you mean the pictures shown in this screenshot here?: https://screencast.com/t/qBgID1tq8

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi grosmontweb,

In the post editor you could try clicking on the picture using the popup bar to align the picture on the left.

Let me know if this works

Gosh that was quick. Yes, koulovat, those are the images. They should be underneath one another. Thank you.

    Hi Carl
Yes, tried that. On the editing page it looks ok but then, when I press Update button, they go on the diagonal again.
    Thank you.

    Hi Gaynor,

Sorry it has taken a while to respond but I worked out a method that might work.

    1. In your Page Editor click on the HTML tab
    http://d.pr/i/TIUlLA

    2. Within the HTML code you will find a line that is the image file. It will look something like

    3. Locate the pictures that are causing the problems. From what I can tell it is the 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 17th

    4. Insert a break

before the problem pictures. It should look like this

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any help with this.

    Hi Carl
Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, though, I still can’t get it to work. The first few lines now look like this:

    <h2 style=”text-align:left;”><b><u>CASTLES:</u></b></h2>

    THE THREE CASTLES:

<b> GROSMONT CASTLE</b>- in the village. More..
    <b> SKENFRITH CASTLE</b>- 5.3 miles, 12 mins. NP7 8UH.
    More..
    <b> WHITE CASTLE</b>- 6.7 miles, 20mins. NP7 8UD.
    More..</p>
    <p style=”text-align:justify;”><img class=” size-thumbnail wp-image-182 alignleft” src=”https://grosmontsite.files.wordpress.com/2017/02/grosmont.jpg?w=300″ alt=”grosmont” width=”150″ height=”88″ />

    Can you see anything obvious?

    Hi Carl
No it doesn’t!! It has changed. I could do a screenshot but I don’t know how to put it on here.

    Hi Carl
I am sorry I am making things more complicated. You can see the HTML on this page:
    http://grosmont.wales/html-2/
Don’t worry if you are busy or can’t help any further at the moment.
    Best regards

    Hi @Gaynor,

Hopping back in here! Is there a chance that you are copying and pasting your formatted text into your blog post directly from a Word editor?

Thanks for your patience here, and for sticking with us!

    Hi koulovat
Thanks for coming back. I honestly can’t remember – it was months ago I did this page, one of the first. It was copied and pasted from somewhere though. Would that make a difference perhaps? It was absolutely fine until I changed the width of the text on the page.

    Hi grosmontweb,
I’ll throw in my 2 cents here. It looks like you have manually inserted the pictures within your <p> tag so if you changed the width of the text on the page then the problem is probably that the lines are now longer.

Try shifting the position of your <img> code blocks for pictures 2 and 3 to further down in the paragraph. Also please make sure that when you’re switching from html mode to preview mode the editor isn’t removing your <p> tags. That happens to me sometimes.

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh, sorry. That formatted strangely. Can you still read that @grosmontweb?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, I can read it. Thanks for that, lastfarthing. I will have a go in the morning. Late night, last night!

    Hi everyone
I think I have resigned myself to starting again with this page – it would be the one with the most work! When I started a new page, it worked ok. I will probably be able to copy and paste those entries where there is only one image.
    Many thanks to you all.
