Changed URL, 500 Internal Service Error, Jetpack deactivated – SITE GONE!

    I’m helping a client with getting their site back up.
    Her research assistant changed the wordpress url to ‘catherineclinton.com/wordpress’; from ‘http://03cc989.netsolhost.com/wordpress’; .

    She does not know who hosts her site but whoishostingthis.com says that Defense.net is; after trying to login to the hosting site, they can not find the account.

    I’m getting a 500 Internal Server Error (of course), can’t access cPanel or hosting site. Anyway to revert changes that happened a couple of days ago? Or tell me who actually hosts the site?

    I also deactivated Jetpack in order to reactivate it, the site disappeared!

    That error message is a wordpress.ORG error message.

    We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites as they are the only ones on our servers. That site is not on our servers and you are posting to the wrong support forum to get support for it.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    Our support docs do not apply to
    (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
    (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.
    (3) sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.
