Changed URL in settings, now everything is messed up!

I was in my website editing and we wanted to change our URL. In the settings in my website, I changed it. Once I hit save, it logged me out, messed up the website, and won’t allow me to log back in. Any suggestions?

    Hey there @lightingcoloradoschristmas,

Can you provide us with the old URL and the new URL?

Also, since you were logged out that means that when you were presented with the “Matching Username?” option you selected, “Change your current username and discard the current account. (You will be logged out and will need to log in with the new username.)”

On the “Discard Current Address?” option, did you select yes? If so, you will not be able to use the Site Redirect Upgrade to send visitors from your old blog address to your new blog address automatically.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hi @jsase5

The same thing happened to me today. I started using Mamp with WordPress and I recently bought a new domain name with HostGator.

My old URL was http://localhost:8888/Ella Caulfield/wp-admin/

and the new URL that I was trying to connect is http://www.ellacaulfield.com

The only difference was mine didn’t log me out when I hit save, it just wouldn’t let me onto any of my new pages and the more links I clicked on, the more I realised I couldn’t access anything anymore.

I also don’t remember seeing a ‘discard current address’ option so I don’t think I clicked yes to that.

I’ve been online for hours looking up a solution to this and am yet to find one… It would be amazing if someone could help out
