Changed ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ — Style Sheets Missing

    I was following instructions to troubleshoot an issue for a client’s webpage (I’m not a WordPress expert) and after following one of the instructions, the entire website went funny.

    These are the guidelines I was following:

    ‘WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL)
    Login to your WordPress dashboard
    Go to Settings -> General
    Your WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) has to be identical.
    The preview will not load if you are having a different URL’

    I changed the ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ to match the ‘Site Address (URL)’ and that’s when everything went wrong. I have screenshots for any questions that may help you. Thanks!

  • Hi there,

    What is the URL of your site so we can look it up in our system? I did not see you mention it in your message. Thanks for the additional info!

  • Hi there,

    Your site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another host.

    Changing the domain on a stand-alone WordPress site like yours has to follow a specific process. You can find the documentation for that process here, though many hosting providers have their own process for this via their hosting control panel.

    From what you describe, I’m guessing the host requires some different steps in this case. So while you might be able to fix this yourself using those instructions, you might need to contact the site’s hosting provider directly for help in this case.
