Changes after converting to own domain
-
Hi – We are strongly considering removing the “.wordpress” from our URL and converting to the main domain. Would this change any of hte following items:
1. Change existing settings/design. What about email subscribers?
2. If somebody goes to the site WITH the “.wordpress.com”, would that automatically take them to to the new URL or do I have to pay for that??Please advise. Thank you very much for your time.
D
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
1) no
2) yes, but you have to pay to connect the URL with your WP.com blog in the first place. -
I decided to remove “wordpress” from my name, after I’d had the blog for a week. I paid for the upgrade, including the $8 privacy option.
Now I cannot view or edit the site while I am logged in. Error message is Invalid key [6]It could be a problem with your ISP, especially if you use satellite (I use Hughes)
I can log out, then view the site. But while logged in I cannot preview, effectively making it impossible to update.
look up the post entitled “Domain mapping causes invalid key error message”

@keepcranepointnatural: Your question is already being looked after on your own thread.

Please don’t report the same problem in more than one thread, it just confuses everyone. -
Sorry, but I didn’t intend to “confuse” anyone, only to respond to lutherderondee’s post about possible problems in removing “wordpress” from his URL.
