Changes in Discussion settings not taking effect

  Initially I set my Discussion Options to require a name and email before a comment appears. Then I disabled that so anyone can post a comment. I also added a picture to my profile. Now, when I am logged in, I can see my picture and there is no field for name, email address and URL under Post a Comment. If I am not logged in, you cannot see my picture and the above fields are displayed. Why the inconsistencies? Anything I can do to get rid of the email address field, etc?

  It’s not a bug, it’s a feature… ;-)
  When you are logged in the system “knows” you and does not display the input fields for information it already has. It also knows your avatar.
  When you are logged out you are like any other unknown user, so you have to provide the data which you want to be displayed. The only difference ist that, now that you changed the settings for discussion, those data are not anymore required (that ist to say that the comments are published even if the input fields are left empty).
  And… no way to get rid of the input fields :-)
