Changes in site editor don’t show in preview

I am very new to blogging and in the thick of the learning curve but I just cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong despite days of watching videos and reading support sites. I drafted several posts and was trying to get the overall site together but when I hit “preview in new tab” from a Post page, it doesn’t show any of the changes I’ve made.

I also made a menu with different categories, but not a single post shows up in the site editor, even under Recent Posts.

I’d initially started with the Daisy theme, but switched after running into the same issue thinking it was the theme. But it’s clearly me and I don’t know where I went wrong and how to fix it. I’ve just been spinning my wheels. Help!

  • Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! It sounds like you’re experiencing some difficulties with your WordPress website, which we are sorry to hear about.

Unfortunately, as your site is not hosted on the WordPress.com managed platform, we’re limited in the direct assistance we can provide as we can only investigate issues on sites we host directly. Your site is using the open-source, self-hosted version of WordPress, which has its own community and resources. Despite this limitation, however, we want to make sure you’re not left without any guidance.

While we can’t actively troubleshoot your issue, we can tell you a little bit about our own managed hosting at WordPress.com, which provides a range of features including automatic updates, backups, built-in social sharing, and access to expert support: https://wordpress.com/hosting/

Furthermore, if you consider moving your site to our platform, we have an easy-to-use migration plugin that could help with the transition – you can find more information about it here:

    WP
    Import using Move to WordPress.com

The Move to WordPress.com plugin allows you to start migrating a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com directly from the self-hosted site. Prerequisites The Move to WordPress.com plugin installed on your self-hosted WordPress site. All incompatible plugins deactivated on the self-hosted site. ✅ There is no need to create a site on WordPress.com before you get star

Since we’re unable to directly help with your current issue, we recommend you to seek guidance at the open-source WordPress community’s support forum. There, you’ll be able to ask for help on any issue related to your self-hosted WordPress site: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

I hope this direction is helpful and wish you all the best on your blogging journey! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions related to WordPress.com or our managed hosting service.
