Changes made in Customizer not saving
-
I originally posted this issue in the Promenade help forum, but the author of that theme has said my issue is not theme related and might be a bug with my WP.com site.
I have tried customizing my site, but many changes don’t show up in the “preview” of it. I’ve been able to change the colour scheme only.
I go to My Sites > Customize > Custom Design. This has lots of options, but when I try and change some of them, they don’t show up after I press save.
For example, I keep trying to change the title of my blog, to add a “Site Tagline”, but it fails every time.
Please look into this.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

10. Try another device such as a laptop, desktop, tablet etc.
11. Try going through the Dashboard rather than the BEEP BEEP BOOP (BBB)editor.
To get to the Dashboard from the BBB editor: Select “My Sites”–>Find your Blog–>Click on the Gear–>Select “Go to Dashboard”. -
I’ve tried all your suggestions, but the problem continues as before.
Please sort it out.
Thank you.

I will tag it for a staff follow-up.
Please also note that here is the theme info:

Hi there,
Please note that the Promenade theme does not display the Site Description. Can you show me what other changes you are trying to make? Please note that everything included in the Custom Design upgrade will only save once the upgrade has been purchased.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I’ve been trying to create a couple of simple menus and a “tagline” under my name. I was under the impression that although some options were unavailable, unless I purchased the Premium upgrade, certain other options were available as part of the purchase of the Promenade theme.
Do I have to buy the Premium upgrade of £70 a year, as well as the Promenade theme, in order to customize it in the way I would like?
-
-
The theme purchase price does not include the ability to undertake any CSS editing. What you can do without any custom design upgrade is stated on the detailed theme description page https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/promenade/
-
WordPress.com sells bundles upgrades. We can “preview” changes in the theme customizer that do not actually display on the blog unless we purchase the upgrade.
If you have not purchased the Premium bundle that contains the custom design upgrade note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/If you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.
To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

Yes certain changes like editing CSS, applying custom fonts/colors will need the Premium upgrade. However for changes like this:
I’ve been trying to create a couple of simple menus and a “tagline” under my name.
the upgrade will not matter. The Promenade theme allows for a primary menu and one social icons menu. Please note that the Premium upgrade would not allow for more menus and this theme does not display the Site tagline under your name.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

OK. I think I’ve created a primary menu and I press save. Nothing appears in the preview.
I’ve created two extra pages and they don’t appear in the Customizer preview either!
No matter what I do this message remains:-
“This is an example of a page. Unlike posts, which are displayed on your blog’s front page in the order they’re published, pages are better suited for more timeless content that you want to be easily accessible, like your About or Contact information. Click the Edit link to make changes to this page or add another page.”
There is no “Edit link” either.
Also, the examples given of completed Promenade sites, bear no resemblance to what I am seeing.
I’ve just started the free 2 week trial of Premium, but I still can’t make the changes I desire.

Hi Nina,
You added pages, but they are set to Private which is why they are not showing up in your Appearance > Menus section. If you edit those pages and set them to public they will show up and allow you to add them to your Menu. Currently your menu is empty.
You should be able to edit your About page here:
https://ninarideout.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1&action=edit
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

I’ve set those two pages to public, but how do I add them both to my menu? It seems I can only add one or the other?
How do I create a set of titles that go to pages on my site, as is shown in the example of Promenade?
-
It’s OK. I’ve just done it!
Will let you know if I have any further problems.
Thank you.
