Changes to layout?
-
There appears to have been a change to my blog (CA2Brittany) – all the posts are now visible on scrolling the page rather than individual entries as they used to be. Also the footer is now showing as a transparent line and confusing the issue. As far as I know I haven’t changed anything.
Thanks
David

Please see a number of existing threads addressing this issue – it is caused by changes introduced by WP:
There is also a lot of information here from “timethief”:

Well that explains it but it doesn’t really help much. I have no plans to upgrade any part of my system as MS doesn’t provide an upgrade for XP to Win7 or 8. So I can’t run IE9 to resolve this
Thanks anyway

This has nothing dto do with what browser version you’re using. Since you don’t have the Custom Design upgrade, the only thing you can do is solution B here:
-
I assumed from an earlier reply that IE9 would help – it doesn’t, but Google Chrome scrolls better than IE8 so that was my first move.
I’ll try option B, here’s hoping I don’t destroy any content
Thanks

OK, Option B worked BUT I have that “Load more posts” thingy which it appears cannot be removed in Vigilance.
Do let me know if the “next’ “previous” ever reappears
Thanks

Now I’m confused, I reloaded the blog and the “next” & “previous” are there with no infinite scrolling – sorted :)

“OK, Option B worked BUT I have that “Load more posts” thingy which it appears cannot be removed in Vigilance.”
That’s the best you can do. As my post says, you can’t disable that and restore the older/newer navigation links without the Custom Design upgrade.“I reloaded the blog and the “next” & “previous” are there with no infinite scrolling”.
If you saw those, then you weren’t viewing your main page. -
I checked again and this is what happened.
1) went to blog main page – saw latest post with “load more posts” at the bottom
2) Selected previous post from sidebar – “next & previous” appeared at the bottom
3) pressed Next and got the latest post with “next & previous” enabled.Weird but I tested it three times and the result was the same. Now using Google Chrome BTW

As I said, you weren’t viewing your main page. Infinite scrolling works on the main posts page only, so it disables the older/newer navigation links on the main posts page only. There’s no infinite scrolling when you view a single complete post, so the navigation links are there. But those are a different pair of navigation links: to previous and next post. The ones that are hidden from view are the links to older/newer pages of posts (the ones you can still see if you click on a monthly archive page or a category page).

Confusing or what?
Thanks for the explanation – hope they see sense one day and reinstate the older/newer next/previous options appropriately
