Changes to my home page will not take effect

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to change the images in my home page. When I publish with the new images the old ones continue to appear. What am I doing wrong? As I remember I was limited to 10 images. I now have fewer than 10 and it still shows the original 10Please let me know what I can do to correct this.
    Thank you

  • Hi @allentimphotos1, we’re taking a look! Do you remember when it stopped showing new photos?

It has been a couple of years since I updated the Home Page. I’ve been posting in my blog almost every day with a photo and caption.

    Thank you for your help.

    Tim

  • Hi Tim,

I checked your theme and found out that for the photos to be displayed on the homepage slider, they need to be set as featured images. Here’s how to set an image as featured in a post:

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

Unfortunately, that did not work. The home page shows that it is a “Slide Show”. It looks as if I need to get access to the slide show to be able to change it.

I tried adding a slide show to my home page but the new one did not show up when I uploaded it. I would guess at some point I’ll have eliminated the home page are start a new.

  • The home page shows that it is a “Slide Show”. It looks as if I need to get access to the slide show to be able to change it.

The slideshow on your homepage is automatically generated by the featured images in the posts when a specific category is selected.

I noticed in the theme’s settings that you’ve selected all your categories to be displayed in the slideshow, and given the number of posts you have published, this creates the issue you’re having.

To resolve this, I recommend creating a category specific to that slideshow (e.g., “slideshow”, “featured”, etc.) and then selecting that category on the posts you want to show up on your homepage.

Also, make sure to select that category in the theme’s options by going to Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Home Page.

  • @allentimphotos1 — one more thing to check. Can you ensure the images you’re using are attaching the posts? Normally that should happen on its own when you make a new post and add images to it; is there any chance you are uploading images and then making new posts?

  • Hi! Just following up: I can see you’ve attached the images, and I still see the plane image first. We’re checking in with our developers & will update you when we have more info.

This is very strange. When I look at my WordPress site on my iPad or iPhone, I see the new photos I put up. It starts with the tattered flag, then the Golden Gate Bridge image, and then the flag again. However, when I look at my site on my desktop I see the old slide show starting with the front of the Chevy. I logged off and logged back in on my desktop and there was no change. I’m scratching my head. Suggestions?
Thank you for staying with me on this.

  • OK. I’m seeing the “Mobile Theme” enabled, so it doesn’t work the same as the Photography theme. I don’t see a slideshow there, but that can be nice for less powerful phones. Do you prefer it that way?

You might try toggling that here to test:

I do still suspect a bug with the slider, though. We’ll let you know what we find!
