Changing a blog/domain name – keeping – and keepin the content

  My username is markmahon.

  My problem is this: I have a blog called <markinthemagrib.wordpress.com> I want that blog to have a new domain name <markinthemaghreb.wordpress.com> ..and all the content to stay the same.

  How can I change the name/domain (I don’t want to have it customized/pay for it). Can I just change the name of the blog somehow??? (all the content in the original one will stay the same in the new address).

  I have registered the new name (markinthemagreb.wordpress.com). Must I export the old one to the new name??

  Hi there,

  If you’ve already registered a new blog with that name, then you will indeed need to export the contents of your old blog and import it into the new one (if you hadn’t yet registered the new blog, then you could have change the blog name, however once a blog name has been used then it can never be used again, so please don’t go deleting this one and try to change it as that will only end badly!).

  It’s actually quite easy to do the export and re-import. We’ve got help articles on how to do so. You just need to follow these:

  And you should be good to go!
