Changing a domain

  I have a premium hosting plan and i have been setting a domain name for some months

  Now, I would like to change the domain name, leaving the same site.

  How is it possible?

  Hi there,

  For that website you will need to add one more domain, pay for it and then make it as primary domain.

  Requests going to old domain name will also be redirected to new domain name which is set as primary.

  Hi there,

  Of what site are you speaking? The account you’re using to post here only owns the free site, http://bobrock4.wordpress.com, and has never purchased any upgrades from WordPress.com.

  If you’ve registered a custom domain name, the only way to change it is to pay to register a second domain. Once you’ve done that we can then link the new domain to your plan so it will renew using the free domain in the plan going forward, and then leave the old domain to expire.

  But the free domain in your plan cannot be used a second time to register a different domain before the plan’s next renewal, and you cannot change a custom domain once it’s registered, only replace it.

  Hi, one question more.

  If I buy a domain with dns elsewhere and I map it on Wp.com (as WordPress.com advises me), wiil I also be able to have the email (email visible only to moderators and staff)?

  Sure, you can have custom email:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/

  Just note if you already have an email provider, you’ll want to add its settings here prior to using our name servers.

  Hi, thank you.

  So, I will take a external domain with dns managing and email hosting. This is a little site and time for settings email services that are in your link are good for bigger sites.

  We provide email forwarding for custom domains registered through WordPress.com — domain owners on your current plan can add five email forwards for each domain.

  There are also options for adding full email hosting using services like G Suite and Zoho:
