Changing a domain name

I recently changed my website name. Initially, everything went off well and the new domain came up quickly. Unfortunately, all the old links attached to my old domain produce a Security warning. When I looked into this further with my host I was told that there is no resolution for this since they switched my SSL certificate from one domain to the other. Had I known this was an issue I would never have changed domain names because now every link that is tied to my old domain that I cannot change (Pinterest pins, etc) bring potential subscribers and readers to a security error that will definitely deter them from coming through to my new domain name. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how did you resolve it? I thought of transferring my domain to a new host but I don’t see how that will change the issue. Please help! I’m losing subscribers daily because of this!
