Changing a name
-
Hi, I’ve been trying to change the name of my blog from gadflygordon to a new name and I’ve been encountering massive difficulties. When I try and change it, it tells me that, logged in under the new name, I can’t access the global dashboard
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Does anyone know how I can access the global dashboard to change the blog name? I feel like it should be simple but the process seems complicated

The Site title (blog name) and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General …
“save changes”. That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed. Note that the site title (blog name) and blog address URL do not have to be the same but it’s better for SEO (search engine optimization) if they are the same. -
The thing is that when i check my settings I don’t have general, and I’ve changed my user name and url already. How do I access general settings?

Provided you are logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog then you can to access the blog’s dashboard and navigate to > Settings > General.

Perhaps this is yet another example of what happened when Staff removed direct links access and implemented access through the theme customizer only. Try using this link http://oldgadflygordon.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2F
and then click the Site Title link on the far right hand side panel there. -
Access to General Settings via the dashboard (Settings > General) is still present. Tested it with the Ryu theme activated.

Hi there,
It looks like you were able to figure this out. I’m seeing quite a few site name changes in your account.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
