changing a page design

I’ve created a site using one of the page layouts, after creating it, decided to look at a different layout so created a test site using the ‘Brice’ Layout , it does say ‘Choose a design
Pick your favorite homepage layout. You can customize or change it later.’how do you change the layout to the ‘Brice’ Layout, I’ve looked at the change layout – but the theme doesn’t show in the list

should have said, I tried changing the layout on the original site and the test site, and the Brice Layout doesn’t show as a layout

Hi there,
On what site are you working, and can you walk me through the exact steps you’re following? We don’t have any page layout called the Brice Layout, so I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re referring to.
To be clear, when I say “page layout”, I’m referring to the templates you see when you create a new page on a site. There are options to just use a blank page, and there are layouts for about pages, home pages, portfolio pages, contact pages, etc.

from scratch just now
I selected Add New Site
then My Site is called comes up
so typed in a random site name
chose a free domain name
then up pops ” Choose a design Pick your favorite homepage layout. You can customize or change it later.”
at that stage there is a Brice layout – which has a heading of Support Your Local Community
but when I try and change the theme or page layout – the Brice theme doesn’t appear

Digging into this, it would appear that Brice is only available as a what we call a Headstart Template.
It’s what fills your site with demo content, but only when you start a new site, so it’s not available for use again once the site has been created.

thanks for the quick reply that the Brice layout is only available at the start
was starting to think that was the answer
have been trying different things, in the hope it would appear,I’ve read the help about deleting and renaming sites and that any site name would no longer be available
just thinking at the moment
is there anyway to get site names swapped about?
example
siteA becomes siteB
siteB becomes siteA -
If you’re moving to a site name that doesn’t exist, you can follow this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/
Otherwise, your only option is to export https://wordpress.com/support/export/ and import https://wordpress.com/support/import/#import-content-from-another-word-press-site

never dones this before, so apologies for the daft question
does that mean the layout (brice) will be there with the text or just the text/words typed on the pagesthanks

Not bad questions at all. We were just a little confused ourselves since this theme wasn’t showing for us.
And to be clear, most of these newer themes including Brice are mostly page block layouts, which you can copy from one site to another fairly easily.
So to clarify, are you mainly wanting to change site names to get the page design back?
If so, have you thought about copying that entire page to the site name you want to keep? Here’s how:
1) Edit the page you like. Click the three vertical dots in the upper right.
2) Choose Code Editor. Select all and copy.
3) Go to https://wordpress.com/page, choose the site you want to use, and paste.
Then you can edit the page as you like. And then if you want to make that the site’s front page, publish it, and set it as the front page like so:
