Changing a previously published post from Private to Public
-
I have a question regarding posts. I now have a happy band of subscribers who receive an e-mail alert whenever I post/publish something new. This suits me (and my subscribers) most of the time. However there are some things that I want to publish as a post (as opposed to creating a page) and my question is this – if I initially publish a post as ‘Private’ and then change its visibility to ‘Public’ at a later time/date, will my subscribers receive an alert to this effect? I have my alert options set to notify subscribers re the publication of new posts only, and not updates to posts – this works well as I often amend existing posts… but I’m wondering if the change from Private to Public will generate a new post alert. Hope this makes sense and looking forward to a reply, anyone? Thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m not 100% sure, but 90% sure that they WILL get a notice. To test it, why not subscribe to your blog via email and test it with a post? Then do report back, because I’m sure people will want to know for sure.

Yes, I’d thought of testing it in the way you suggested, but the problem with that is ALL my subscribers would get the test, and I don’t want to send out unnecessary stuff. At the moment I am posting once a week, and its usually to offer a free scrapbooking graphic, so I will maybe come up with an interim freebie offer along these lines and get back to let you know.

If you create/publish a PRIVATE post… and then return to it at a later time or date and switch it to PUBLIC, an immediate e-mail alert is sent to your blog’s subscribers! I do so wish I could have more control over my own posts! I don’t want e-mail alerts going out for everything I publish, but I need to publish stuff in post format (as opposed to page format) so I can utilise the archive and keyword search widgets? Is there a way I can achieve this? Anyone? Thanks in advance.
