changing background color of main text
-
I am using the Stargazer theme and don’t like the white background for the text. I have searched the support site, but everything I can find seemed blog specific. I want the background to be tan (fbe0b9). I know very little about coding, but if you tell me where to put the code I can probably figure it out. Please help ASAP. This is a blog for a business and the previous blog is being discontinued by the hosting site this week.

We provide support only for blogs being hosted WordPress.COM and not for WordPress.ORG software installs. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

mentaldimensions – thank you for getting back to me. My problem isn’t a custom background, but a custom background behind the text. Is there a way to change the white behind the actual text

@mentaldimensions
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you want to answer support questions that’s cool. However, you must be crystal clear on the differences between wordpress.com blogs and wordpress.org installs.
Otherwise you will be posting misinformation, wasting the time of those who post for help, frustrating them, also and peeving off the regular Volunteers, who know the right answers, and have to tailgate you and every staff wannbe into threads, in order to correct your wrong answers.

I am new to this. Forgive my ignorance. I am having a hard time navigating the forums and it was the first time I found a way to ask a question

You are going to do fine. Not to worry. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG yet click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can register and post to the support forums there to receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

@timethief
I understand this:WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different
But I don’t see that djgaloot mentioned a .org installation in his initial question. How did you make that determination?

@mentaldimensions: maybe the answer is here –> https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/changing-background-color-of-main-text?replies=10#post-1912527 ;)

@galois
Thanks, but the first link in the post you referred to leads to a “page not found.” I believe this is the link that timethief had intended to post:So at this point, I assume that if I’d known that the Stargazer theme was only available for .org installations, then I’d have known not to try answering the question. :)
-
Wrong, @TT put that link on purpose, to show that if the user uses that theme, then the blog is not hosted on WordPress.com.
Do you understand, now? ;)
