Changing background on Twenty Ten.
-
Can someone please tell me if it’s possible to change the tile effect background on Twenty Ten to just one image. If so, how?

Thank you.

Have you tried going to:
Appearance >> Header
Then scroll down the page and then look for something like this picture:
Hope this works.
Good luck.

Am I correct in thinking that the issue is trying to determine a size of background image for a responsive widgth theme like Twenty Ten that will display that image only once and not tile the image. -
@timethief. Yes that’s right. I don’t like the tile effect much.
@jtanna01. Unfortunately I can’t see anything with that link but a blank page. But thanks anyway. -
@jessielansdel
jtanna01 posted a link to an image for hiding header text that’s found here > Appearance > Header as she didn’t understand what you meant.I believe it’s the size of the image that’s key. I use images with 1024 pixel widths and they work on Twenty Eleven as is without tiling. You could try uploading a copy of the image that’s 1024 pixels in width and see it that works.

@timethief. Thank you. That’s done it and it looks so much better without the black lines. Another satisfied customer. :)

@ jessielansdel A wider background image will help, but you’ll also need to turn off tiling in your custom background options, as follows:
1. Go to Appearance -> Background
2. Click on “Choose File” and select the larger image from your computer
3. Click the “Upload” button
4. The “Display Options” area will then expand to show you more choices. I suggest the following:Position: “Center” (This will center the image behind your main content.)
Repeat: “No Repeat” (This turns off both horizontal and vertical tiling.)
Attachment: “Scroll” is more commonly used; this is where the background image moves up or down along with your page content, when a user scrolls up or down on your page. “Fixed” holds your background in place while a user scrolls up or down. It can be a little visually distracting, in my opinion, but it’s really just a personal preference. You can try it out both ways to see which you like.
Background Color: #09484f – this will place a dark blue-green color behind your image so that when users scroll down past the image, the background isn’t just plain white. You could use any color here, I just picked a shade that was prominent in your image.
You can see a screenshot showing the options I suggest here:

@wncdigital. Thank you so much for that help and advice. I’ve made a note for future reference. That blue is a lovely colour. :)
