changing benevolence background
-
I realy want to change the background color of my blog into white, so I get it similar to the daydream theme I had earlier (changed because I want a sidebar).
1) How do I change the color? (no clue how to use CSS etc)
2) Do I need to pay for a upgrade just to change the background?
Kind regards
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

to change the background you enter this in the CSS editor, obviously changing the color. And yes you do have to pay for the upgrade to change the background.
body { background: red; -
sorry, at the end of the css code you have to close the brackets like this,
body { position: relative; background: red; } -
ok, thanks alot:) Gosh, cant be bothered to pay. haha! Sticking with the daydream and white background then, as Im happy enough with that;)

With the Vigilance theme, you can change the background colors (among others) under appearance > Vigilance options. No CSS required.
This blog post lists the other themes here that have customizable colors without requiring the CSS upgrade: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/24/color-customisable-themes/ .

@jfsargenta, there is a trick you can use with a text widget to change background colors, and it appears to work fine with Benevolence. Put a text widget at the top of your sidebar and paste the following into it.
<div style="position:fixed;top:0;left:0;background:#fff url('http://');width:100%;height:100%;z-index:-1000;"></div>Leave the “url” section just as it is with the http:// in it or it breaks.
