Changing blog address
-
Hi,
I wanted to change my blog address (just want to add an “s” at the end) but when I try to do so it tells me “Sorry, that site has already been used!”. But when I type in the address to see the site it says “<site_address> is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.”. So if nobody is using that address why can’t I?
Thanks!
Melissa

Hi there,
If you are referring to registering any .wordpress.com deleted blog URL that is not possible. One has to ignore at least three warnings stating that deletion is permanent and irreversible and then click a verification link in an email to delete a blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
That’s because deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
You can register another .wordpress.com blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
