changing blog address – accidentally created a separate blog, deleted it, now can't change the

  Hi
  I wanted to change my blog address from yannickjacobblog.wordpress.com to thisisexistential.wordpress.com.
  I then changed the name, but accidentally chose the option to create a new blog and keep the existing one. The new blog then didn’t have my content so that I deleted it and tried to change the name again. However, now I can’t do this anymore as the blog I deleted still seems to be registered as existing. Is there a a certain time I need to wait or what do I do?

  Hi Yannick,
  I may disappoint you, but once a site is deleted its address is reserved and cannot be registered again by anyone(not even by the owner) . This is done to keep your blog from being impersonated by someone else.

  That’s the reason why there are multiple warnings given while performing this action so that you can think twice before proceeding.

  However,

  Sites already deleted by their authors two or more years ago may become available again, if they present no username or other technical conflicts.

  So currently it is not possible to use that address, i would suggest you to change it to a different address.

  Thanks for that. I did buy the domain thisisexistential.com so it’s not as bad as it could be. I guess I’ll try again in a few years.
  If anybody knows a way to convince an admin to accelerate this process, do let me know!

  I was taking about the free sub-domain(example.wordpress.com) that comes with your free account.

  thisisexistential.com is already taken. Did you register this domain via WordPress?
