Changing blog address name but still on wordpress

I recently changed my wordpress address to another address on wordpress.com. I have blog followers. What do I do to contact blog followers to tell them my new address? Should I email them separately? The name in address shown here is the new name.

Or do you want to chnage the blog address ie. the URL?

That option will permanently disable the address and you will not be able to reuse it. Only select this option if you are sure you will not use the address again. If you want to redirect traffic to the new blog, you can keep the address and purchase the Site Redirect upgrade. -

Here is my problem. My former address was the following:
<http://www.gcharb.wordpress.com>
Changed yesterday to: http://www.yournibblednews.wordpress.com
The change to the new address has already taken place.
When I go to the WordPress Stoer section it tells me the new address but the former domain address is nor mentioned.
If if do the Site reroute how can I be sure that my followers ffrom the old address will still be connected to the new one?
The situation is a bit confusing to me. I am a blogger and not a programmer.
Any advice you offer will be gratefuly accepted.
