Changing Blog Address – question re: subscribers

  • Unknown's avatar

Quick question: I want to change the URL for my blog, which seems to be an effective way to get rid of subscribers that I don’t want.

If I use the “change address” feature (http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/), will the subscribers be advised of the new link? Or will all subscriptions be nullified?

I’m interested: where did you get that information?

  • Followers may actually be transfered, it’s not something that we promise, but it could happen.

If you really want to start fresh with no followers, open a new blog and export/import your contents via the Tools section of each blog’s Dashboard.

Keep in mind that while you aren’t able to remove followers from your public site you are able to control your privacy options at Settings -> Privacy. There you can set a site to private and have full control over who can access and subscribe to content. We have more details about this at:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

For public blogs anyone can subscribe, and each user can remove their own subscription.
